A new Befriending Service launched on 1st April 2026, providing vital companionship and support to older and vulnerable people across Cheshire West and Chester.
Snow Angels CIC has been awarded the contract to deliver the new service. Snow Angels is a well‑established local social enterprise that supports older people to live independently and stay connected in their communities.
The new service will support at least 600 residents every year through a mix of face‑to‑face visits, telephone befriending, confidence‑building, and help to join local activities.
Volunteers are central to the service, and Snow Angels is now welcoming new volunteers through their website:
https://www.snowangels.org.uk.
The Council is asking partner organisations, charities, community groups and frontline services to help raise awareness of the new service and share information with the people they support. Ensuring the message reaches local neighbourhoods will help bring the service to those who need it most.
As the new service went live on 1st April 2026, referrals are now accepted.
