Mr Rowlands, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Transport and Infrastructure is asking residents in Deeside for their views on what the Welsh Government’s priorities should be for North Wales.
Mr Rowlands said:
“Since being elected to represent North Wales in the Welsh Parliament, I have been campaigning to boost investment and bring jobs to Deeside and I have been strongly challenging the Welsh Government on their policies.
“This leaflet is an update on some of the issues I have been working on and I would be grateful if residents could take the time to fill in this Summer Survey and tell me what they feel should be prioritised by the Welsh Government.”
Among the issues highlighted in the leaflet is the recent inflation busting council tax hikes on Flintshire, the continued lack of NHS dentistry services in North Wales and the Welsh Government’s introduction of the controversial default 20mph speed limit on 30mph arterial roads.
In the leaflet Mr Rowlands called for the Welsh Government to review the formula it uses to allocate funding to local authorities to ensure fairer settlements for councils like Flintshire as earlier this year residents across the county were hit with a record breaking Council Tax hike, costing households an extra £184.01 on average.
After campaigning for more Welsh Government investment in dentistry, he welcomes news that Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board will be committing an extra £5.5 million to dentistry, with investment in practices in Flint and Mold, and a new practice planned for Connah’s Quay.
Mr Rowlands has also vowed to continue to campaign against the Welsh Government’s default 20mph Speed limit which remains immensely unpopular two years after its introduction.
He said:
“Almost half a million people signed a petition calling on the Senedd to rescind the speed limit - showing just how unpopular this policy is. Default 20mph is set to shrink Wales’ economy by £4.5 billion pounds, impacting on businesses and jobs. 20mph makes sense outside schools, hospitals and in other places where there’s a clear need, but it isn’t right as the default. I’ll continue to campaign for the change to be reversed.
“I would urge all residents to please take the time to complete the survey and help me support what you want in the Welsh Parliament.”
