All West Cheshire Museums will be temporarily closed to the public from 5pm today Friday 20 March until further notice, following advice from Public Health England.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Our Museum service is much loved by residents and visitors so closing them temporarily has been a hard decision to make.
“Our Museum team are planning to make accessible activity templates for families and consider how they can make their collections accessible on-line whilst they can’t be enjoyed in person.
“However, such is the extent of this outbreak and following the advice of Public Health England on social distancing or as I prefer ‘physical distancing’, it is a move we have had to take in order to protect the health of our residents.
“We will monitor the situation and follow Government guidance before reopening and we look forward to the day when we can have our community buildings running as normal.”
