Start an exciting career in social care with Vivo

Vivo Care Choices is currently on the lookout for new staff to join its services across west Cheshire and make a real difference in the local community.

While Vivo is currently wholly owned and funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council, it will be transferring back to the Council as an in-house service from April 2022, continuing to support people with learning disabilities and autism and older people, including those with dementia.

Vivo provides a range of services in west Cheshire, including learning disability day services, supported living, respite care and Shared Lives, and there are opportunities in many of these, whether you’re starting out in social care or looking to progress your career.

Michelle, who supports people in Vivo’s services at Canal Street in Chester, said: “I became aware of Vivo when I supported someone to access Vivo’s day services at another organisation.

“I instantly felt comfortable in the environment with the staff and people using services.

“Everyone was always very friendly and approachable and it was an easy decision to apply for a position as Support Worker at Vivo.

“My role is really diverse as I spend a lot of time in the office as a Senior Support Worker, but I also spend a lot of time on the ground supporting people.

“Everything we do – whether it’s in the office or on the ground – has a positive impact on the people we support.

“There isn’t a boring moment as you get to see the work you do first-hand.

“Supporting people using services to develop new skills, accomplish goals and access opportunities they may be unable to independently gives us a huge sense of pride and a feeling of accomplishment.”

Natalie, another who works at the heart of Vivo’s services, added: “The whole world felt like it stopped during the pandemic, but we didn’t because our guys and their families needed support.

“Every day is a learning day as it’s completely different.

“It can be challenging, but it’s extremely worthwhile as we’re looking after some very vulnerable people and you can see the difference our work makes.

“We always go above and beyond and our work can sometimes take a lot of patience.

“We recently helped someone we support get to hospital for an operation and it took months of team work to get to that stage, but you know you’ve done right at the end of it.”

Not only is a job at Vivo extremely rewarding as you can make a big difference to the lives of others, but there are also a range of benefits, such as competitive pay, an excellent pension, a generous holiday allowance and employee rewards and benefits in line with the Council’s terms and conditions.
