Snapchat drug dealers sentenced

Two men who used snapchat to deal cannabis on a commercial scale in Chester have been sentenced.

Jack Moore and Kieron Dodd both appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday 18th September for sentencing.

Moore, 33, of Keats Terrace, Blacon Avenue, Chester, was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for three years, for being concerned in the supply of class B drugs (cannabis) and possession with intent to supply class B drugs (cannabis).

Dodd, 31, of Nant Peris, Treborth Road, Chester, was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, for being concerned in the supply of class B drugs (cannabis).

The investigation began in January 2026 when officers became aware of a Snapchat account which was advertising the supply of large amounts of cannabis in the Chester area on a daily basis.

Following a number of enquiries officers were able to trace the account to Moore, further enquiries also showed that he was being assisted by Dodd.

A decision was made to arrest Moore at his flat on Hunter Street, Chester, on Wednesday 11 March. However, following the arrest it became apparent that Moore was aware of the police investigation.

He claimed to have ‘dropped’ his mobile phone and had posted a message on Snapchat stating that the account would be deleted and he would set up a new one soon. CCTV checks revealed that a man had left the property prior to police arrival with a large holdall, believed to have contained cannabis.

Dodd was also arrested following a warrant at his home in Nant Peris. A mobile phone was found at the address along with a small amount of cannabis. Examination of the phone later recovered messages indicating that he was linked to the supply of cannabis.

Following questioning, both men were later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Shortly after their release, officers became aware of two new Snapchat accounts which were again advertising the sale of bulk amounts of cannabis, both of which were linked to Moore.

Rather than conduct a warrant, officers waited until Moore attended Blacon police station to sign on as part of his bail conditions. He was arrested at the station, and his iPhone was seized.

Moore was also found in possession of keys to an address on Saddlery Way in Chester. Officers subsequently executed a warrant at the property, where they recovered a vacuum packing machine.

Searches were also carried out on two vehicles linked to Moore, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis and other drug paraphernalia.

After gathering a case file of evidence against the men, both Moore and Dodd were charged with being involved in the wholesale supply of cannabis in Chester.

Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Roy Wellings, of Chester Proactive CID, said:

“Illegal drugs have a devastating impact on our communities, and we’re committed to doing all we can to identify those responsible and ensure they are held accountable for their actions.

“In this case, Moore and Dodd thought they would be able to hide their activity by using social media to peddle their illegal drugs.

“The pair showed a clear disregard for the law, even carrying on with their criminal activity after their initial arrests.

“However, thanks to the work of our dedicated team of officers here at Chester Proactive CID, their illegal activities have now been exposed.

“While Moore and Dodd have not received custodial sentences, residents can rest assured that we will be monitoring their actions closely and they will be brought before the courts should any further offences be committed.

“Our fight against illegal drugs remains ongoing, and I urge anyone with any information about suspected drug related activity in Chester to get in touch."
