Severn Trent to invest more than £1million in new water pipes in Mickle Trafford

Severn Trent is investing more than £1million to upgrade water pipes in Mickle Trafford and secure the water supply for generations to come.

The water company is installing 41km of water pipe across Great Barrow, Mickle Trafford and Aldford as part of a major upgrade of the network. 

Work has already begun in Great Barrow and the plan is for works to start in Mickle Trafford on Monday, August 4 and continue through to April 2026, and the company is now hosting a community event to share more about it. 

Catherine Webb, Severn Trent Community Communications Officer said: 

“You may have seen our team in your area recently carrying out site investigations. This work has helped us plan the best way to deliver a major upgrade to the water network. 

“We understand that there have been several leaks and bursts in the area, but these essential upgrades will help secure your water supply for years to come — with fewer leaks, fewer bursts, and even better service. 

“We understand that works like these may cause some disruption, which is why we want to meet the community and share how we plan to be working over the coming months. 

A community event is set to take place on Wednesday, July 23^rd to give residents in the area an opportunity to see how the scheme is progressing and what is next.  

The drop-in session also offers residents the opportunity to speak directly with the project team, ask questions, and share feedback about the work and its impact on the local area.  

The event will be running from 4pm to 7pm at Mickle Trafford Village Hall, Warrington Road, Mickle Trafford, CH2 4EB. 

Catherine added: 

“We want to make sure we give everyone an opportunity to speak to us and find out about the project. Engagement with our customers is important to us – so we’d love to see you there.”

• Bridgend - September 1^st, 2025 to September 12^th, 2025 

• St Andrews Walk - September 8^th, 2025 to September 19^th, 2025 

• Warrington Road - September 15^th, 2025 to October 17^th, 2025 

• St Peters Way - October 13^th, 2025 to November 21^st, 2025
