SCENES FOR NEW WW2 FAMILY DRAMA "WAITING" FILMED IN CHESHIRE

The filming of scenes to be used as part of a new WW2 drama, which will premiere at Chester's Storyhouse in the run up to Remembrance Sunday, has recently taken place in two Cheshire villages.

With rehearsals well underway, the cast and crew of "WAITING", the latest full length stage play from the pen of Chester based playwright Gail Young, recently headed to Tarporley and St Laurence's Church in Frodsham to film scenes which will feature in the play when it premieres at The Garret theatre at Storyhouse in Chester on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th November at 7.30pm and Saturday 11th November at 2pm and 7.30pm.  Produced by Gail Young Productions, the play will be directed by local award winning Director Yvette Owen.

Based loosely on Gail's own family history, "WAITING" tells the story of a city struggling with the challenges and heartache that WW2 and the Liverpool blitz bring. The Wright family is ripped apart, and there is a growing feeling of helplessness in the face of an approaching enemy. As time passes, they wait. Wait for letters from beloved children, wait for news of a son, a brother, and a sweetheart now fighting for King and Country. They wait for instructions from the Government, wait for the sirens to sound and the bombs to fall.

All profits from ticket sales for WAITING are being donated to UNHCR to support people across the world currently facing similar challenges in their lives.

Scenes filmed for the play include younger members of the Wright family writing letters home to their parents, having being evacuated from war torn Liverpool to the safety of rural mid Wales.

Speaking about filming the scenes, Yvette Owen said:

"Mike Goldsmith kindly volunteered his beautiful period cottage in Tarporley in which to film scenes of the children writing letters home. Mike's dog, Crumble, also features in the filmed segment, and definitely stole the show and melted a few hearts! We're also very grateful to the Rev. Elaine Atack who allowed us to film scenes in the historic St Laurence's Church in Frodsham. Our talented production team includes film-maker Dan Fox from Chat Noir Productions, Sarah Bell and Pete Russell who have sourced some wonderful period costumes, lighting designer Mark Shenton, and sound recordist Andy Walker. Ed Ringstead and Men In Sheds are working on set design and construction, and I can't wait to see it all spring to life in the Garret in November. Grab a ticket while you still can!"
