Range of travel and parking options for Chester this Christmas

Preparations are well underway for the festive celebrations in Chester that start with the Christmas Market in Town Hall Square opening on Friday 18th November.

From Thursday 17 November Chester’s Park and Ride will start running late night Christmas services. The last bus from Foregate Street will be 9pm on Thursdays. There will be a late-night service each day during Christmas week 19 to 23 December up to 9pm, and the last Park and Ride bus on 24 December will be 6pm.

Park and Ride costs just £2 per person (under 16s can travel free with an adult) with buses running every 10 to 12 minutes on Mondays to Saturdays and every 15 minutes on Sundays and bank holidays. For more details visit: www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/parkandride

There are over a hundred new cycle parking spaces available near Storyhouse and Chester’s new market. Half will be in the new indoor cycle hub opening later in November in the New Market Parking at Northgate. The indoor secure cycle hub has fifty spaces for cycles, with free e-bike charging and tool/repair station, access will be with an entry card for a £10 one-off membership fee.  Other cycle parking locations in Chester have been mapped by the Chester Cycling Campaign on their website:

The free Shopper Hopper bus from the Bus Interchange at Gorse Stacks to Hunter Street links with all bus services including the Park and Ride network.

There are over 4,300 car parking spaces available in Chester city centre car parks. These offer a range of tariffs for short and long stay parking. Long stay visitors can park for up to twelve hours in the Little Roodee for just £5, whereas Trinity Street, Delamere Street and Chester’s New Market Parking at Northgate offer a range of tariffs for day visitors to the city. Evening visitors can park in places like The Kaleyards for as little as £1.50 after 6pm, or for a more central location which is well lit and covered by CCTV, the New Market Parking has a flat rate of £4 after 6pm.
