Police appeal following aggravated burglary in Ellesmere Port

Detectives investigating an aggravated burglary in Ellesmere Port are appealing for information and footage from the public.

At around 7.45pm on Monday 25 February the front door of a house on Chester Road was smashed open.

Four men wearing face coverings then entered the property.

They threatened the occupants and demanded money from them.

The offenders fled empty handed after one of the occupants told them that they had phoned the police.

The four men ran out of the front door and fled on foot in the direction of Wetherby Way.

The offenders are described as being around 6’ tall with proportionate builds.

They were wearing dark clothing, including heavy winter coats with the hoods up, and black gloves.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and as part of their investigation detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area and believes they may have seen the offenders, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them, to come forward.

They also want to hear from anyone who thinks they may know who the offenders are or have any other information that may be relevant to the investigation.

Detective Constable Nadine Sturgess said: “This was a frightening incident that has understandably left those who were inside the house extremely shaken up.

“Burglary is a serious crime in which victims are targeted in their own home, which is the place they should be able to feel most safe.

“Being the victim of a burglary is always a deeply upsetting experience, but in this instance it was particularly traumatic as it occurred while the victims were at home and they were threatened by the offenders.

“I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are determined to catch the men and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries are ongoing in a bid to establish the identities of the offenders and I appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to get in touch.

“If you think you may have seen the offenders before they broke into the house or fleeing the area afterwards, either on foot or in a vehicle, please contact us here at Ellesmere Port Police Station.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them, either on foot or in a vehicle.
