Officers across Chester LPU target anti-social use of e-bikes

An operation has taken place in Chester targeting illegal and dangerously-ridden e-bikes and off-road vehicles.

On Thursday 23rd July, officers were deployed across Chester Local Policing Unit (LPU) as part of Operation Lawmaker.

The operation follows a number of recent incidents involving the use of e-bikes and the anti-social use of vehicles.

The operation involved Chester Beat Management Team, Western Problem Solving Team, NPAS Fixed Wing Aircraft, Bike Unit, Roads and Crime Unit and Force Control Centre.

The operation achieved the following results:

• One arrest for drug driving
• One arrest for disqualified driving
• One PG9 dangerous vehicle condition report being issued
• Six Traffic Offence Reports issued
• Nine vehicle seizures for offences such as having no insurance and no licence
• One man reported for summons to court

 Inspector James Wilson said:

“Thanks to a collaborate effort from various teams across the force, our officers produced some excellent results, including nine vehicles seized in just one day.

“We recognise how disruptive the use of illegal e-bikes, e-scooters, and dangerously ridden off-road vehicles are to residents and this operation sent out a clear message that the illegal use of vehicles will not be tolerated, and we will use a range of resources to tackle this issue."
