They have announced that they are trialling an 'open rehearsal' on the day of their next concert.
This essentially means that members of the public would be welcome to drop in to watch our final rehearsal on the afternoon of Saturday 1st July at St Mary's Without the Walls, Handbridge between 2-5pm.
This open rehearsal is mainly aimed at children in order to inspire them to play musical instruments, join local orchestras and attend classical music concerts in future. We are keen to encourage high school and university students to attend our evening concert. However we appreciate that primary school students and younger children may not be able to attend our whole evening concert.
Therefore this open rehearsal means that these younger children can watch our orchestra rehearsing for free and be exposed to classical music in a more flexible way. The concert programme is:
The Italian Girl in Algiers Overture by Rossini
Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev
A Midsummer Night's Dream Overture by Mendelssohn
Symphony No. 4 'Italian' by Mendelssohn
To help us manage this trial, we ask that any potential visitors to our open rehearsal please sign up via:
...so we have an idea of numbers in advance.
All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Please tell any interested children or young families about this open rehearsal and contact:

...for more information if needed.
