Chester children’s charity KidsBank has achieved a major milestone in its £1m A Gift for Forever appeal, raising £100,000 towards the appeal.
A significant boost to the campaign comes from The Swettenham Foundation, which has become KidsBank’s first legacy sponsor, committing £25,000.
Dawn and Ian Swettenham recently visited the charity, meeting the team and seeing firsthand the impact KidsBank has across Cheshire West, Flintshire, and Ellesmere Port.
Since its launch in 2019, KidsBank has gifted over 475,000 essential items to children living in poverty.
The A Gift for Forever appeal is now helping the charity take the next step, buying the Loves of Chester Garage site to secure a permanent home for the children and families it supports and generate an ongoing income to support its running costs.
Dee Denton, CEO of KidsBank, said:
"The A Gift for Forever appeal isn’t just about helping children today; it’s about securing the future of KidsBank itself.
“Thanks to the generosity of The Swettenham Foundation, we’re one step closer to buying our building and making sure we can continue supporting families in need for decades to come. This support will have a lasting impact on the whole community."
The Swettenham Foundation, which operates pharmacies in Blacon and Kingsway, has a long-standing commitment to local communities.
Dawn Swettenham, Co-Chair of the Foundation, said:
"Visiting KidsBank and seeing the incredible difference the team makes to local families was truly inspiring. We’re proud to support the A Gift for Forever appeal and help secure a permanent home for the charity, so it can continue making a lasting impact on children and communities for years to come."
This legacy sponsorship ensures children can continue to receive support all year round. With the ongoing generosity of volunteers, donors, fundraisers, and partner organisations, KidsBank is now moving closer to reaching its £1m goal and securing a permanent home for the vital work it does in the community.
