MOONLIGHT FLICKS BRINGS MOVIE MAGIC TO CHESTER’S GROSVENOR PARK

The popular Moonlight Flicks returns to Chester’s Grosvenor Park next month, with a selection of unmissable big screen favourites and recent releases.

The open-air cinema experience beneath the stars, produced by Storyhouse, runs from Sunday, 9 August to Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August 2026.

With fan-favourite musicals, rom-coms and more, Moonlight Flicks is perfect for a date night, a summer holiday treat with the family or an evening out with friends.

The summer season opens with the sun-kissed, crowd-pleasing movie musical Mamma Mia! on Sunday, 9 August at 9pm.

Tim Key’s BIFA Award-winning hit comedy The Ballad of Wallis Island follows on Thursday, 13 August at 9pm.

Baz Luhrmann’s acclaimed Bohemian cabaret musical Moulin Rouge! is 25 this year. It lights up the big screen in the park on Sunday, 16 August at 9pm.

You can also mark the 25th anniversary of Reece Witherspoon’s iconic law school comedy Legally Blonde which entertains film lovers on Sunday, 23 August at 8.20pm.

Meanwhile Jim Henson’s cult fairytale fantasy Labyrinth, starring the late David Bowie and a teenage Jennifer Connelly, celebrates its 40th anniversary with a screening on Sunday, 30 August at 8.30pm.

And the Moonlight Flicks season comes to a close on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August at 8pm with Wicked for Good, the epic conclusion to the global cinematic sensation.

Cinema audiences can pre-book fresh wood-fired pizza, grazing boxes and bottles of wine online, or choose from a menu of street food, craft beers and frozen cocktails on the night,

Moonlight Flicks is part of the wider Storyhouse in the Park 2026 which includes Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre performances of Outlaws: A Robin Hood Story, Let the Sun Shine! Peter Pan and Nell Gwynn.
