Match Report - Chester FC 4 - 0 Boston United

Chester FC made it four home wins in a row with a dominant display against Boston United.

In an action packed afternoon, the Blues took the lead through Jack Redshaw before Boston were reduced to nine men as Scott Duxbury and Danny Elliott were both shown second yellow cards.

From there the hosts took full advantage adding well worked goals through Matty Williams and Charlie Jolley, before Darren Stephenson’s first goal for the club capped the perfect afternoon.

The Blues made four changes, bringing in Declan Weeks, Danny Livesey, James Horsfield and Jolley for Josh Askew, George Waring, Simon Grand and Dan Cowan.

The opening chance of the game fell to the visitors as former Chester forward, Elliott latched onto a Jordan Burrow flick but Kev Roberts got back well for the Blues to make a block.

Chester looked dangerous going forward and loanee forward Jolley broke the offside trap and rounded goalkeeper Peter Crook but couldn’t find anybody in the middle for his cut-back. The Blues followed that up with a Weeks effort from range but Crook was equal to it.

The pressure paid off though as the Blues took the lead in the eighteenth minute with a sublime goal. George Glendon played a ball over the top to Anthony Dudley, who nutmegged his defender before squaring to Redshaw to fire home.

The hosts continued to look dangerous as first Weeks curled an effort wide before Jolley fired over the crossbar after a corner was punched to him by Crook.

At the other end Boston again pushed forward and almost found an opening but Kevin Roberts was back again to make a crucial block.

As the game opened up Chester managed to find another way through the Boston defence as a great ball from Dudley found Glendon, but the Blues’ skipper couldn’t hit the target.

Chester almost found a second five minutes before half time as Livesey met Weeks’ corner but Crook made a fine save to push it away.

Minutes later and Crook was the saviour for Boston again as Horsfield’s cross was turned goalwards by Williams – Crook down well to turn the ball around the post.

Boston’s situation got worse though after the break as left back Duxbury was shown two yellow cards in quick succession, both occasions fouling the superb Jolley.

Chester were well on top but struggling to create clear cut chances, however they almost got fortunate as Dudley’s strike was deflected inches wide of the post with Boston’s number one stood motionless.

Boston’s afternoon then turned from bad to worse as Elliott was shown a second yellow card for a strong challenge on Weeks.

Chester would go on to make the two man advantage count almost immediately with another superbly crafted goal. Weeks slid a pass through the defenders legs to Glendon, who cut it back for Williams to tap in from close range.

The Blues then scored fantastic third goal, Man of the Match Weeks’ brilliant ball to split the defence found Jolley who applied an exquisite finish for his first Chester goal.

It was one way traffic now as the hosts continued to surge forward and almost had a fourth as Glendon was denied after more good work from Jolley, with only a Tom Platt block able to deny the skipper.

A fourth wasn’t far away for the Blues though as Luke Clark’s effort was spilled by Crook and Stephenson was on hand to turn in for his first Chester goal.
