Match Preview: Altrincham FC Women v Chester FC Women

Chester FC Women return to League action this weekend for the first time in a month, as they travel away to face Altrincham FC Women at Mersey Valley Sports Club.

In that time the Blues have suffered back-to-back defeats in cup competitions and come into Sunday’s game without a win in their last three games.

That being said Chester boast an impressive league record to date, having picked up 10 points from a possible 15 on offer in their opening five games to the season with only one defeat in that sequence.

Sunday’s opponents Altrincham are currently three places and five points behind Chester in 8th place ahead of the game, having picked up just one win in their opening six league games.

“Altrincham is always a tricky game. We’ve got a lot of respect for who they are, how they play and the way they go about their business. Earlier in the season, it was a close, tactical first half we’re both teams showed their qualities, and in the second half we found another couple of gears and managed to come away with 4-0 win which we felt we were good value for.

“For this game though, that doesn’t mean anything, we must go to their place a reach the same performance levels. If we can do that, when I’m confident we’ll come away with a win. We’ve put in some positive performances against a couple of teams from a higher league and been unlucky to be on the losing side. But we need to correct that now and put a run together.
