Man banned from Chester city centre for five years after being issued a criminal behaviour order

A man has been banned from entering Chester city centre after officers secured a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Christopher Walsh, of no fixed address, Chester, was served with the five-year order at Chester Magistrates' Court on Friday 3 November, following numerous incidents of anti-social behaviour across the city.

As a result, the 35-year-old has been banned from entering the city centre (shown on the below map) along with a condition not to use or encourage others to use foul, abusive, insulting, offensive, threatening, disorderly or intimidating language or behaviour in a public place.

If he fails to comply with the CBO, Walsh will be committing a criminal offence which may result in recall to prison or fine.

Inspector James Wilson, of Chester Local Policing Unit, said:

“The securing of this order, which bans him from entering the city's centre, reiterates our commitment to keep Chester and residents safe, targeting those who insist on committing crime and causing issues in the community.

"Walsh has been a persistent problem in the city for a long time and he will now be under the terms of the CBO for the next five years, and if he fails to comply with the conditions, he could face time in prison.

"Hopefully the order will also provide reassurance to all those who live, work and visit the city centre that we are addressing local concerns, as well as serving as a deterrent to others that such behaviour will not be tolerated in Chester."

Anyone who encounters Walsh breaching the restrictions of his order is urged to contact Cheshire Police via:
