Children from local baby and child swim school, Puddle Ducks Chester, Wirral & North Wales, went for a swim in their pyjamas recently in support of the charity, Children’s Hospital Pyjamas.
Children’s Hospital Pyjamas is a UK based charity that distribute brand new, donated pairs of pyjamas to poorly children in hospitals, hospices and women’s refuges up and down the country.
Puddle Ducks’ Pyjama Week is an exciting week where all the children (and grown ups!) turn up to their lesson in pyjamas, giving them the opportunity to experience what it feels like to be in the water with clothes on, therefore learning water safety skills whilst having lots of fun.
Throughout the week, children are encouraged to bring a voluntary donation of pyjamas to their lessons, this year collecting an amazing 55 pairs of pyjamas which have been donated to the charity.
Commenting on the initiative, owner of Puddle Ducks Chester, Wirral & North Wales, Jay Nash, said:
“Practising survival techniques in and around water is such an important skill for all children and working with such a wonderful charity which brings such comfort and love to those who need it at a difficult time, is a lovely way of being able to support families in our local area”.
Jay continued:
“The children (and grown ups) loved getting involved again this year, I’m so proud of all of our Puddle Ducks families!”
A Children’s Hospital Pyjamas spokesperson said:
“No child wants to be in hospital, but if they have to be, they don’t want to be wearing a hospital gown. With Puddle Ducks’ support, this year we have surpassed last year’s total establishments we donated to, from just under 200, we will now be able to gift pyjamas to in excess of 218 establishments (so far). Thus providing more children who are inpatients in our receiving hospitals with a brand-new pair of comfy pyjamas, knowing that someone is wishing them well, a speedy recovery and thinking of them”.
“A massive thank you to Puddle Ducks for helping us to continue to create smiles we truly appreciate the support”.
