Live music event raises money for Chester children’s charity

Events Management students from the University of Chester are holding a live music event to raise money for struggling families in Cheshire.

Fridayboys Chester is a group of second year students which has been working with Alexander’s Live Room, Rufus Court, Chester to host a night of funk and indie music called GLOW, with proceeds going to KidsBank.

The event will run from 8pm from 11pm on Wednesday, February 16, with tickets costing £5 available in advance online or on the door. There will also be prizes to be won on the night.

The students organised the event as music brings people together and they wanted to inspire the community to get involved with local charities like KidsBank Chester who rely on the community for its donations while also showcasing local independent businesses and talent.

Jacob Campbell member of Fridayboys Chester, said: “I’ve really enjoyed the planning process; the team is now striving to deliver an awesome night.”

Student Stephanie Lloyd added: “We’ve worked really hard on this for the past few months and we’re so excited to showcase local bands and raise some money for an amazing charity.”

Laura Walker, Trustee at KidsBank Chester, said: “On behalf of KidsBank Chester, we are absolutely thrilled to be selected as the chosen charity for GLOW 2022. With the upcoming rise in fuel costs, for example, we are seeing now more than ever the pressing need of local families for essential items to allow their children to grow thrive in a safe and warm home environment. All of the proceeds of this event will go such a long way to helping those families and we cannot wait for the evening itself!”
