LABOUR COUNCIL SUPPORTING FAMILIES OVER HALF-TERM

The Labour-led Cheshire West & Chester Council is working with the Welcome Network, Edsential, ForHousing and local foodbanks to make sure vulnerable children in West Cheshire do not face holiday hunger during half-term.

The Tory Government & Cheshire Tory MPs have turned their backs on vulnerable children, voting against (or abstaining) on funding free school meals for struggling families. This is the same Government which has money to burn when it comes to supporting policies which outsource essential public health services to poorly performing private sector companies.

Cllr Robert Cernik, the Council Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “I want families in west Cheshire to know the Council is here to help where the Government has failed them. The Government doesn't consider helping hungry children a priority. This Labour Council does and will not turn its back on struggling families.”
