Grosvenor Shopping Centre announces new charity of the year partnership with Children Today

Grosvenor Shopping Centre is proud to have launched a new charity of the year partnership with children’s disability charity, Children Today Charitable Trust.

Earlier this year, Grosvenor Shopping Centre began the search for its next charity of the year and invited local charities to apply to become the shopping centre’s chosen charity. This month, they selected Children Today after being impressed by the charity’s impact and passion for helping families affected by disability.

Children Today’s mission is to inspire and enable disabled children, young adults and their families, by providing support and specially adapted equipment – such as specialist trikes, adapted buggies, sensory equipment and more.

The partnership has kicked off with an initial donation of £456 raised through several fundraising events, from bake sales to bucket collections.

Julie Webb, Centre Manager, at the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, said:

“We had lots of applications for our new charity of the year partnership, but Children Today really stood out. Families are very much at the heart of Grosvenor Shopping Centre, so to be working with a charity providing vital support to children and families is a perfect fit.

“We’re very excited to be working with such a worthwhile cause, especially during their 30th anniversary and look forward to sharing more news about some exciting family-friendly charity events in centre very soon.”

Children Today is planning a calendar of exciting fundraising events throughout the collaboration, including a ‘Frock Swap’ and several seasonal fundraiser, from now  until December 2024.

Lexi Heselwood, communications manager at Children Today, comments:

“We’re over the moon to have been chosen as the Grosvenor Shopping Centre’s charity of the year. The centre is such an important hub of the community in Chester and I’m sure it will present some fantastic opportunities for us to spread the word about Children Today and the invaluable work we do as a charity.

“As a small charity that receives no government funding, we rely solely on the generosity of individuals and organisations. So, this partnership is a big thing for us. As we prepare to commemorate our 30th birthday next year, being able to celebrate at the heart of the city we were established in is very exciting.”
