GCSE results – Queen’s girls hard work pays off

There may have been no exams but girls at the Queen’s School in Chester have seen their hard work pay off with another year of phenomenal GCSE results.

The unprecedented situation brought on by the Covid-19 lockdown meant that once the girls concluded their GCSE subject courses remotely, they were given the opportunity to undertake Pre A-level lessons in their chosen subjects during the time they would have been sitting exams. This has given them the unique and invaluable opportunity to get a real taster of their A-level studies and feel more comfortable and prepared for September.

Headmistress Mrs Sue Wallace-Woodroffe said: “Whilst not the circumstances we would have hoped for I am so pleased and proud to see our pupils achieve such fantastic GCSE results. Although they had the opportunity to sit their final exams taken away from them, these results are undoubtedly still a testament to the hard work of the girls and dedication of our fabulous staff who work with each one of them to ensure they reach, and often exceed, their target grades.

“I am confident each girl is now well prepared to take the next big step in their academic studies and embrace their A-levels with the same determination and enthusiasm and we will be with them every step of the way.”

Outstanding individual results include:

Hattie Benton (9x9, 1x8), Leonie Brown (9x9, 1xA*), Ava Dempsey (10x9), Emily Fagen (6x9, 4x8), Megan Illingworth (9x9, 1x8), Emma Islip (7x9, 3x8), Fiona Johnson (9x9, 1xA*), Lucy McBurney (4x9, 6x8), Ella Reynolds (6x9, 4x8), Katherine Rutherford (9x9, 1xA*), Vrishali Shetty (10x9), Esther Smellie (4x9, 6x8), Carmen Vicary (7x9, 3x8) and Isabel White (7x9, 3x8)
