Family fun event at the Old Baths in Parkgate this weekend

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Wirral Way, Cheshire West and Chester Council has joined forces with the RSPB to hold a free family friendly event at the Old Baths in Parkgate.

The event, which will take place from 1pm on Sunday, 1 October will have lots of activities for all the family, including:

  • the unveiling of Short-eared owl installation that won the vote to become the favourite marsh bird
  • a willow-weaving masterclass - the opportunity to try your hand at willow weaving your favourite marsh bird
  • an art class - to create your own owl face mask
  • an opportunity to chat to representatives of the RSPB about fascinating marsh birds
  • snuggle into a story telling tent to hear captivating stories about birds and their fascinating lives.

Plus there will be an opportunity to take a picture with the majestic statue of the Short-eared owl.

Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said:

“The marshes are an important part of our landscape and we are privileged to have it on our doorstep where we can enjoy its beauty and wildlife everyday.

“The 50th anniversary of this wonderful asset is something to celebrate so I would like to encourage everyone to come down to the Old Baths and join in the fun on Sunday, 1 October from 1pm.

“There will be lots to do and see.  Full tide coincides with the event, which means the marsh birds will be very active.

“I do hope to see you there.”
