Chester FC play their first FA Cup competition proper tie in nine years this weekend; as National League side York City visit the Leap76 Stadium.
The Blues come into this one in fine form, having won their last six games on the bounce. They had to be patient last weekend, but found their winner at Curzon Ashton on 84 minutes courtesy of skipper George Glendon, his second goal in consecutive matches.
Calum McIntyre will definitely be without striker Tom Peers this weekend, who is cup tied having featured in the competition already for former club Macclesfield.
Winners of First Round ties take home £41,000 at this stage of the competition in prize money.
THE OPPOSITION:
Neal Ardley was appointed York Manager on 6th September – and his side currently sit 22nd in the National League table. They’ve won three of their opening 18 games this term in the division above the Blues.
In their last game, the Minstermen needed a 93rd minute strike from Paddy McLaughlin to rescue a point in front of the TNT Sports cameras at home to FC Halifax.
Previously in the FA Cup, Saturday’s opponents knocked out Needham Market in the Fourth Qualifying Round stage. After drawing 0-0 at home on the Saturday, a late goal from Tyler Cordner saw York advance in the Replay three days later.
TICKETS:
Supporters are advised that while the temporary capacity reduction is in place, matchday admission will not be available at turnstiles, meaning tickets will have to either be bought online at chesterfc.ktckts.com or at the Ticket Office.
We advise supporters wanting to purchase their tickets at the office on a matchday to arrive earlier than normal to reduce queuing times.
Please note, at the time of writing we only have approx 150 South Stand tickets remaining for Chester fans. All other stands have now SOLD OUT. On arrival, you simply need to present your printed ticket or mobile phone to be scanned at the turnstile.
It is allocated seating for all Chester tickets sold, please sit in the correct seat on your ticket.
