Drug dealer responsible for supplying cocaine and cannabis in Chester jailed

A drug dealer responsible for supplying cocaine and cannabis in Chester has been jailed.

Josh Banks, 29, of Woodlands Drive, Chester appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday 31 March to be sentenced to three years and four months imprisonment for possession with intent to supply class A (cocaine) and B (cannabis) drugs.

He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

The court heard how officers from Chester Proactive Team conducted a warrant at Banks’ address in Hoole on 2 March 2023 following information about illegal drugs.

On arrival, officers were told by Banks that the drugs were being stored in a cupboard under the stairs.

Officers located a quantity of cannabis in bags along with a tub of white powder which was later found to be cocaine.

Banks was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Needham said:

“Banks will now be behind bars for a substantial amount of time and we have once again been able to prevent illegal drugs from reaching the streets of Chester.

“We will continue to take down anyone who thinks that they can come onto our patch to deal drugs and ensure that the city is a safe place for those who live here.

“I would urge residents to continue to provide vital information about drug activity in the community as it allows us to build a clear picture of what is going on in the area.”
