Donations to be doubled for Local Charity

The Neuro Therapy Centre in Saltney has been given the opportunity to have donations made to the charity doubled for free and are calling on people’s support to help them reach their £20,000 target.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge starts on Giving Tuesday, 28th November, and runs until noon on Tuesday 5th December. Donations of any size made to the Neuro Therapy Centre’s dedicated Big Give webpage will be doubled thanks to £10,000 of match-funding provided by supporters and Candis Club.

The donations will be used to support the Centre’s physical and emotional therapies which provide a lifeline for people with neurological conditions and their Carers in the region.

Jane Johnston-Cree, CEO at the Neuro Therapy Centre said:

“It’s a really exciting time for the Centre, as we are fundraising to support an expansion to our facilities and services, meaning we’ll be able to support more people. One in ten people have a neurological condition that can be supported by the Centre, so there is a huge demand for our services and it’s growing every week.”

As part of this exciting week, the charity have organised a Pyjama Day on Friday 1st December, where businesses and local groups are being invited to wear their PJs all day long and donate £2 to celebrate the warmth and friendliness of the Centre’s support.

Jane added:

“We ran a Pyjama Day at the Centre this week, it was lots of fun and wonderful to see so many people join in to support the Centre. When people take part on Friday 1st December their donations will be able to have twice the impact when donated during this special week,”

The Centre which has been running for over 38 years supports people with a wide range of long-term neuro-degenerative conditions including MS, Parkinson’s Disease, ME, MND, FND, Ataxia and Fibromyalgia through providing regular physiotherapy, tailored exercise opportunities, counselling and support groups, as well as opportunities for people to meet and share experiences

Joe Hurst who is a member of the Neuro Therapy Centre said:

‘I’ve been coming to the Centre for almost 18 months, and it’s changed my life. I come here twice a week for therapy for my MS. I have gym sessions, a seated physio group, and a one-to-one physio session. My mobility and strength have improved, I’m now able to use a walker instead of being confined to my wheelchair, and I’ve made new friends in the Centre café. I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t started coming here.”

The Centre’s expansion will increase its service delivery space by 45% enabling it to create a larger gym, new physiotherapy suite, and new 1:1 treatment rooms.

Between noon on Tuesday 28th November and noon on Tuesday 5th December, the Neuro Therapy Centre’s Big Give web page will be live, and there is £10,000 of match-funding available for donations of any size to be doubled for free.
