Officers in Chester have issued a dispersal order following reports of a group causing anti-social behaviour in the city centre.
Police will be using dispersal orders banning anyone from the town for up to 48 hours to prevent disorder.
The dispersal order has been imposed under Section 34 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, dispersal orders make it an offence for anyone to return to a specific area for up to 48 hours.
The highlighted mapped area will be provided to anyone issued with a direction to leave. If you are ordered to leave the dispersal order area and come back, you are likely to be arrested.
The powers are in place now and will run until 4.25pm on Sunday 2 April.
Inspector James Wilson said: “Due to ongoing anti-social behaviour here in Chester by a small minority of people, we have had to impose a dispersal order in the City Centre.
“I want to be clear that we will do everything we can do to crackdown on this activity and our communities should not have to put up with anti-social behaviour.
“We have made a number of arrests for public order offences over recent weeks, and I hope to reassure local residents that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated here in Chester.
“I would urge anyone who witnesses or who has been a victim of anti-social behaviour to report this to us by calling 101 or reporting it via our website so that we can investigate further.”
