Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a fatal collision in Ellesmere Port.
At around 11.40am on Sunday 19th April, police were made aware of a collision between a car, a black Infiniti FX30D, and a six-year-old boy on Anchor Drive, Ellesmere Port.
Following the incident, the child was initially transported to hospital with family members.
However, they later were met by police and paramedics near to Whitby Sports and Social Club, before being transported to the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Sadly, despite the best effort of all those involved, the boy later died in hospital as a result of his injuries. His next of kin are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
A 48-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing a death by dangerous driving, drug driving, and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence. He has since been released on bail.
