CWFL Round Up for Saturday 23rd September 2023

Harley Bennion was the hero last week when netting a last minute winner for Waggon & Horses, as they took the points in a seven goal thriller against Morton FC.

CWFL Queensferry Premiership:

Harley Bennion was the hero last week when netting a last minute winner for Waggon & Horses as they took the points in a seven goal thriller against Morton FC and the same player put in a man of the match performance today helping himself to a hat-trick as Waggon romped to a 6-3 win against Kelsall FC, Also on the score sheet for Waggon were Caleb Rose, Ben Barrat and Gary Roberts. For Kelsall, Adam Pickering bagged a brace and Dom Coates netted a single.

Hoole Rangers and Shaftsbury Youth played out a nine-goal thriller, Alfie Naylor, and Paul Kane both netted doubles for Shafts, but a  Man of the match performance from Jack Stelling inspired Hoole as they went one better with Josh Leach scoring a brace and with singles from Victor Arogundale, Kyle Stoddart and Connor Howley, Hoole took the points.

Last season’s Premier Division champions Blacon youth Club took on last season’s Championship winners FC Farndon and it was Blacon that looked set to take the points as goals from Aaron Rowlands, Tom Harrison and Matty Cross put them into a commanding lead only for FC Farndon to pull it back to 3-2 with efforts from Matty Sheridan and Deyontae James. With time running out, Danny Mongan netted at the death to earn Farndon a valuable point as the game finished 3-3.

Christleton FC came unstuck against Chester Nomads III losing 2-1.  Zaac Caveney scored for Christleton, but Nomads had two goal hero Brad Dickenson to thank for the 3 points.

Sutton Rangers grabbed their first points of the season with an encouraging 3-0 victory against Moreton FC.  Sutton’s goals were scored by Danny Carr, Shakeel Sterling and Ben Nimmo.

CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship:

Surprise results in the Championship today with Great results for both Handbridge and Hoole Rovers.  Handbridge travelled to previously unbeaten Cestrian Alex and came away with a fantastic 5-1 win.  Andrew Pratt grabbed a double as Adam Hodgson, Taylor Owens, and Scott Gibbons all got singles in a result which see’s Handbridge close the gap on the three teams above them to 3 points.

Hoole Rovers ended Upton JFC’s unbeaten run with a hard earned 1-0. Isaac Robinson was the goal hero as Hoole toppled the league leaders.

Goals from Morgon Shone, Daniel Nixon, Aaron Stockton and Grant Stening gave Orange Athletic their first points of the season with a 4-2 victory against Sutton Rangers Reserves.

Second placed Waggon & Horses Reserves had to settle for a point against Neston Nomads Reserves, Joe Henry was the marksman for Waggon and Archie Hughes Netted for Neston.  

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3:

Ashton Vets remain top after defeating Tarvin Vets 2-0 thanks to a Ste Whittaker double and a solitary strike from Kevin Pink was enough for Parkfield Vets to take the points against Eastham Vets.

FC Farndon had Roy Cardus to thank as his hat-trick sank Upton JFC Vets to see Farndon run out 3-1 winners.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 4:

A Dan Bowen double plus a single for Jordon Oldham seen Hartford Vets secure a 3-0 win against FC Vaults. Dee Rangers Vets went top of the league as efforts from Rich Dalton and Mike Collins accounted for Great Sutton Vets who replied through Gary Handley.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 5:

Crossway Vets had a Phil Radcliffe double and a Lukas Jurczak single to thank as they ran out 3-1 winners against Port Sunlight Vets who replied with an effort from Matty Nayland. Poulton Athletic Vets had Redmond Bush and Franny Tolman on target against Rake & Pikel Vets as Poulton edged out Rake 2-1 to take the points, Luke Bedson netted for Rake & Pikel.
