CWFL Round Up for Saturday 16th September 2023

On Friday night, Mersey Royal showcased their intentions as they aim to make it a seventh straight CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division one title and tighten their grip on a trophy they have made their own.

Doubles from Andy Robinson and David Favager, plus singles from Stu Hardman, Lee Gibson and Anthony Cotgrave gave Mersey Royal Vets an impressive 7- 3 win against newly promoted Queens Park Vets, who replied with efforts from Kevin Bimpson, Steve Abbot and Paul Dunleavy.

On Saturday Higher Bebinton Kelma Vets secured a hard-fought win away at Capenhurst Villa Vets with an own goal and a Shaun Burgess effort doing the damage.

In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2, Ellesmere Port Town Vets stormed into a 3-0 lead against Neston Nomads Vets, Gareth Lupton bagging a double and Tom Player a single for Ellesmere Port. The day got worse for Neston who also went down to ten me, However this did not deter them as amazingly they came back to secure a brilliant 4-3 win with Mike Ryan grabbing a double and Chris Kennedy and Sam Bunbury netting singles. Birkenhead Vets Player Manager Ricci Loughran was on target along with Mike New and an own goal from Ellesmere Port Red Lions saw Birkenhead run out 3-1 winners.  Winsford Town Vets had Liam Goulding on target, but Paul Rowlands netted for West Kirby Vets as both teams took a point as the game ended 1-1.

CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship action seen Upton JFC stay top as a Joe Williams double was supplemented with singles from Ben Mcglashen plus an own goal which gave Upton a 4-2 win against Neston Nomads Reserves who replied with efforts from Oscar Ratnaike and Younis Maghabry. Hot on the heels of Upton are Waggon & Horses Reserves and Cestrain Alex who both kept up the pressure with victories. Waggon Reserves hit nine without reply away at Orange Athletic with Ellis Moore helping himself to a hattrick, Joe Henry netted a brace and Jake Smith, Kieran Dodd, Shaun Griffin and Charlie Jones all got singles. Cestrain Alex went one better as they bagged ten but conceded one against Sutton Rangers, Josh Camy bagged four, Ashley Reed netted a hattrick, Charlie Jones and Chris Rowntree both netted singles which was also supplemented with an own goal by Sutton.  Handbridge FC also went goal crazy as they defeated FC Farndon 9-1.  Nath Moffatt hit a double and Declan McHugh, Liam Gowan, Jo Wilson, Jake Williams, Ryan Bradley and James Underwood all netted singles.  Sion Jones scored FC Farndon’s consolation goal.

In the CWFL Queensferry Premier division, a young Moreton FC team put up a spirited performance against Waggon & Horses but lost by the odd goal in seven as Waggon went top of the Premiership. Harley Bennion netted a brace with Billy Fennell and Caleb Rose netting singles to secure the points for Waggon, Moreton replied with an Ash Jameson double and a goal from Jack Pringle.

Kelsall FC had Mikey Taylor on target but Steve Large netted for Shaftsbury as both teams had to settle for a point. FC Farndon ended Christletons 100% record as efforts from Lee Parry and Iwan Nevitt gave FC Farndon the points. Chester Nomads III had Tim Ashbrook on target but that wasn’t enough as Hoole Rangers bagged five! Josh Leach, Martin Graves, Charlie Bell, Connor Howley and Callum Jones all scored for Hoole. An Aaron Rowlands treble and a Sam Davies single gave Blacon youth the points against Sutton Rangers in a 4-1 win for Blacon. Danny Carr replied for Sutton.
