A new initiative aims to deliver over 400 units of specialist accommodation for individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities, and autism.
The Council is proud to announce the launch of its Specialist Housing Prospectus, a key milestone in the Adult Social Care Accommodation and Care Model (16–64 Programme). This initiative is designed to improve the quality and availability of accommodation for individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities, and autism.
The prospectus is the result of a comprehensive needs assessment and extensive co-production with care providers and individuals currently living in specialist accommodation. It outlines the current gaps in housing provision and sets out a clear vision for the development of over 400 new units of specialist accommodation over the next decade.
Developed in collaboration with property experts and people with lived experience, the prospectus serves as a call to action for care providers, property developers, and social landlords to partner with the Council in delivering innovative and inclusive housing solutions. By identifying specific needs and opportunities, the document aims to foster meaningful dialogue and drive forward positive change.
The digital version of the prospectus is available on the Council’s website and will be shared with stakeholders across the housing and care sectors.
This initiative underscores the Council’s commitment to ensuring that all residents - regardless of their support needs - have access to safe, suitable, and supportive accommodation. We invite all interested parties to explore the prospectus and join us in shaping a more inclusive future.
