Council gives green light for Green Flag Awards

Chester Town Hall and the Eastgate Clock will light up green on Wednesday 14 October 2020 to coincide with the announcement of this year’s Green Flag Awards, to recognise the importance of good quality parks and open spaces.

Parks and open spaces have become even more important to people during the COVID-19 pandemic for exercise and wellbeing.

This year the following Council parks and open spaces have received Green Flag awards:

Castle Park, Frodsham
Grosvenor Park, Chester
Stanney Fields, Neston
Caldy Valley, Chester
Westminster Park, Chester
Northwich Woodlands
Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port

Cabinet Member for the Climate Emergency, Councillor Matt Bryan said: “Cheshire West and Chester has a variety of green open spaces that have played a key role in helping local people stay healthy and active, both physically and mentally, over the last few challenging months.

“Our impressive list of Green Flag Awards shows our commitment to providing top quality green spaces for our residents to enjoy the great outdoors.

“The Council is joining #GoGreenForParks with other regions across the country to light up civic and iconic spaces in green to celebrate great quality parks and green spaces.”
