Council funding boost powers community ideas through Cheshire West Crowd

From greener sports facilities to new opportunities for young people to get active, a fresh round of Council funding is helping community projects across Cheshire West and Chester make an even bigger impact.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has pledged £67,600 through its Community Innovation Fund and Climate Change Emergency Fund, helping local groups turn great ideas into reality through the Cheshire West Crowd crowdfunding platform.

Among the latest projects to receive support are:

• Saughall Colts Junior Football Club's Net Zero Pavilion project, creating a more sustainable future for grassroots sport.
• A brand-new Trim Trail climbing frame at St Clare's Catholic Primary School in Lache, encouraging children to climb, play and stay active outdoors.
• Cuddington and Sandiway Youth Club's youth fitness programme, helping young people lead healthier lifestyles while upgrading to energy-efficient lighting.
• Plus many more…

The latest funding round showcases the incredible creativity and ambition of local communities, with projects focused on everything from sustainability and physical activity to improving community spaces and bringing people together.

Several projects have already smashed their fundraising targets, while others are still seeking support from residents, businesses and local organisations.

Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Ambassador for Cheshire West Crowd, said:

"Cheshire West Crowd continues to demonstrate what can be achieved when communities come together behind a shared vision.

"It's fantastic to see so many inspiring projects securing support and making a positive difference for local people. From helping young people stay active to creating greener community facilities, these projects are improving lives and strengthening our communities.

"We're proud to support local groups with funding that helps turn ideas into action. Every pledge helps projects build momentum, unlock additional funding and bring lasting benefits to our borough.

"Some projects are still fundraising, so I'd encourage everyone to take a look and get involved. Donations can be as little as £2, and together those small contributions can make a big difference."

Since launching, Cheshire West Crowd has supported 218 community projects, with 12,345 backers pledging more than £3.4 million to initiatives across the borough.
