Flintshire County Council has now completed assessments of all C-class and unclassified roads put forward by residents for consideration to return to a 30mph speed limit.
Following detailed reviews against the new Welsh Government criteria, a further 38 roads have been identified as suitable to progress to the next stage. These proposed changes will be formally advertised over the coming weeks and months, giving residents the opportunity to view the proposals and submit comments as part of the statutory consultation process.
Earlier this year, the council reverted six A and B class roads, which meet the Welsh Government criteria, back to 30mph following consultation.
Cabinet member for Waste and Transportation, Councillor Glyn Banks, said:
“We want to thank residents for their engagement in this process. Their local knowledge has been invaluable in assessing which roads may be appropriate to revert to 30mph.
“The council received more than 1,000 requests from the public. Each road put forward had to be assessed against the new criteria which has taken a considerable amount of time to complete. I know this process has taken longer than many residents had hoped so I would like to thank the public for their patience.
“The next step is to formally consult on the proposals and we encourage communities to have their say.”
The Council will publish each of the proposed Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) on its website as they are advertised:
