Cheshire West and Chester Council’s popular Park & Ride service celebrates 40 years of operation this year.
Colleagues from both the current Council and former Chester City and Cheshire County Councils came together at the Wrexham Road site to celebrate the milestone last week.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Highways, Councillor Karen Shore said:
“A big thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate last week. It was wonderful to see colleagues old and new come together to mark the occasion, especially Roy and Roger who helped set up the service in 1983.
“If you’re coming into Chester for Christmas shopping, why not give the Park & Ride a try. Accessing the City is quick and easy, so sit back, relax and let our professional drivers transport you swiftly into the centre of Chester, seven days a week.”
Also to celebrate the anniversary last week, the first 40 passengers at each of the Park & Ride sites on Thursday 23 November received a special ticket for free travel all day.
The extended P&R service for late-night Christmas shopping in Chester has now started, with buses available until 9pm on Thursdays, and every evening between 18 to 22 December.
