Cheshire West and Chester Council are inviting residents and partners to share their stories and ideas online to showcase and celebrate community spirit as we all live through restrictions to limit the spread of Coronavirus.
The Council launched the ‘Inspire Cheshire West’ website earlier in the year as an interactive online space to share stories of how neighbourhoods were pulling together during the pandemic, from small acts of kindness to flourishing new community initiatives.
The Council is again asking for residents to use Inspire Cheshire West to share their experiences during the current four-week lockdown.
The online platform allows residents to say thank you to people who have made a difference to them and add ideas for how to make the most of staying at home. This could include ideas on maintaining good physical and mental wellbeing, activities to share with children and how to help in the local community.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “So far 2020 has been a difficult year for us all, and the restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19 have meant that we’ve all had to live our lives differently.
“However, there has been one shining light in all of this and that is the amazing community spirit that we’ve seen so far in Cheshire West and Chester. Throughout these difficult months so many people and organisations have stepped up to play their part and make a difference to people’s lives through thousands of small acts of kindness.
“We hope people will continue to use this site as a source of inspiration for their own lives, as well as sharing their stories and ideas to inspire others and show just what an amazing community we have here in west Cheshire.
“On behalf of the Council, I want to say thank you to everyone who is playing a part to help others get through this time. We all need to keep on working together to play our part, following the guidance and help turn this around. Remember, wash your hands, wear a face covering and practice social distancing.”
