Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Youth Service is inviting residents, families, professionals and community organisations to come together for a powerful and informative event aimed at tackling youth violence and building safer communities.
The free event, titled “Fighting for Change,” will take place on Wednesday 27 May, from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Storyhouse, Chester. The day will offer opportunities for attendees to listen, learn, and engage with services and initiatives that are working to reduce harm and support young people.
Celebrating the successful roll out of the programme in Chester, Northwich and Winsford, this event brings together a range of partner agencies to focus on increasing awareness of youth violence, understanding its impact, and exploring practical ways communities can respond collectively.
Visitors can expect:
- Interactive workshops delivered by leading organisations including StreetDoctors and Make Mouth Music
- Contributions from partner agencies, including The JJ Effect
- Market stalls showcasing local support services, advice, and resources
- Opportunities to connect with professionals, community groups, and young people
The event aims to foster open conversations and highlight preventative approaches that empower individuals and communities to make a positive difference.
Amanda Perraton, Executive Director for Children and Families, Cheshire West and Chester Council said:
“Fighting for Change is about bringing people together to better understand the challenges facing young people and to explore how we can all play a role in creating safer environments. We are thankful to the Storyhouse for providing us with the venue for this important day - by working collaboratively, we can strengthen communities and support young people to thrive.”
Funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner, the event is free to attend, and all members of the community are encouraged to participate (ages 14+ or 11+ with parental guidance due to emotional content, graphic images, and language).
