Christmas at Chester Town Hall

The Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Sheila Little is hosting some very special Christmas events in Chester Town Hall this December.

Said the Lord Mayor:

“Please join me this Christmas in the magnificent Town Hall. There is a Regalia talk, story time for children or a chance to be shown around the Town Hall by the keeper.

“I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas.”

Chester Visitor Centre is managing the bookings for all the Christmas events call: 01244 405340. The Centre is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.  Alternatively call into the Visitor Centre on Chester Town Hall Square. Tickets are limited so please book early.

All proceeds will go towards the Lord Mayor’s Charity Fund; Soul Kitchen, Blacon Beacon and Crossroads Community Hub

Christmas in the Lord Mayor’s Parlour:

Saturday 9 December - 12pm and 3pm
Saturday 16 December - 12pm and 3pm

The Lord Mayor will be opening her Parlour and, together with her Attendant and helpers, will be delivering regalia talks. Join the Lord Mayor of Chester, to enjoy the festive splendours of the Parlour whilst learning about the history of the Lord Mayor, Chester’s regalia, why the city has a sword and mace and what it is like to be a Lord Mayor.

Christmas story time with the Lord Mayor of Chester:

Saturday 9 December – 11am and 2pm
Saturday 16 December – 11am and 2pm

Join the Lord Mayor of Chester and her helpers as they read magical Christmas stories at Chester Town Hall. The Lord Mayor will captivate the audience with festive tales, and good wishes to all.  Each session will last around 20 minutes and children will be provided with a soft drink, a cookie and leave with a small festive goodie bag from The Lord Mayor’s elves. There will also be opportunities to help make reindeer food in preparation for the big arrival on Christmas Eve. 

Sessions are suitable for children 10 years and under and both children and enthusiastic adults alike are welcome to have their photographs taken in the Lord Mayor’s Christmas sleigh.

Chester’s Town Hall Keeper invites you to join him on a festive tour of the Town Hall to learn about its history, its connections to the Civic Life of the City of Chester and its architecture.

Before you enjoy the delights of Chester’s Christmas market come inside and learn about the history of the building; from its opening in 1869, right up to modern day uses and events. You might even spot an elf or two.

Chester Town Hall has maintained its beauty for over 150 years and continues to proudly serve the Lord Mayor and their civic functions. It also provides space for local residents to host community and charity events and is available to hire for a number of private events.
