Chester man charged with racially aggravated harassment

A man from Chester has been charged with multiple offences following two incidents at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Steven Hall was arrested on Wednesday 6 August following two incidents at the hospital which occurred on 31 July and 6 August.

The 60-year-old was subsequently charged with racially aggravated harassment, use of threatening and insulting language with intent to cause alarm & distress and causing a nuisance at an NHS premises.

Hall, of Heron Place, Chester, appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 7 August where he was remanded in custody. He is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 14 August.

Chief Superintendent Jonathan Betts said:

“As this case demonstrates, we treat all reports of racial and religious harassment extremely seriously and will ensure that swift and robust action is taken against all those found responsible.”
