Chester heritage business owners to be given safety advice by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service

Business owners in Chester will receive a visit from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service on Wednesday 27 February as part of an initiative to keep the city’s buildings safe.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is teaming up with partner agencies to offer key safety advice and highlight prominent safety concerns to local businesses in a heritage impact day which will take place in the city centre.

Lee Shears, Head of Protection and Organisational Performance, said: “While we regularly engage with business owners in Chester, having a dedicated day like this enables us to work with our partners to highlight even further how they can keep their premises safe and the important role that they have in preserving the city for this generation and those to come.

“Throughout the day we will be offering a range of advice and raising awareness of the issues that are most threatening to the centuries of history in Chester, as well as delivering general safety messages.

“Keeping homes, businesses and buildings safe in Chester is one of our priorities and I would encourage businesses to use this opportunity by getting involved and speaking to us.”

The Service’s Protection team along with representatives from Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire Police, CH1 Chester Bid and Chester Against Business Crime, will be spending the day visiting businesses, particularly those which own or occupy heritage buildings, to deliver joint safety messages about protecting our heritage.

They will provide advice and guidance on how to keep themselves, their premises and the local environment safe from fire.

Fire Service vehicles, including the vintage fire engine and the Service’s Kitchen Safety Unit, will be on display in Bridge Street from 10.30am.

Firefighters and representatives from the home fire safety and road safety teams, Cheshire Police and the Community Safety Wardens will be on hand to offer safety advice and demonstrations throughout the day.
