Chester FC Women picked up their first win of the season, at the Leap76 Stadium, on Wednesday night.
The Blues, in front of the CH1 faithful for the first time this season at the start of an exciting new chapter, got off to a lightning start and won a penalty in the first 90 seconds.
Lucy Adderley stepped up but saw his spot kick saved by the Ellesmere Port ‘keeper.
Nevertheless, Martin Fitzsimons’ side shrugged that disappointment off and took the lead on seven minutes. Rach Lloyd’s corner was met by skipper Katie Priest who nodded home in front of the Hipkiss Stand.
A dominant first half ended 1-0, despite the Blues having two goals disallowed one for Molly Wood and one for Priest.
Lloyd and Wood both had efforts from distance which failed to extend the lead – before the scoreline was doubled with 20 minutes to go as sub Ash Bullock converted at the end of a slick move, firing across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.
However, despite dominance, the visitors found a way back into the game as a penalty was awarded and then converted with five minutes to go.
But Chester were to quash any late rally from Ellesmere Port and put the game to bed late on.
The subs combined as Bullock turned provider for Evie Halliwell who made no mistake and sent the Seals faithful home happy.
Chester: Foster, Sands, Priest, Adderley, Randles (Locke 79), Dowell, Lloyd (Halliwell 62), Paul (Riley 79), Morris (Bullock 62), Wood, Bradley (Redman 73).
Scorers: Priest 7, Bullock 70, Halliwell 89.
Attendance: 170.
