Chester & Wirral Football League - Weekend Round Up

Friday evening saw the CWFL action get underway as Runcorn Sports Development maintained their perfect start in the Olympic Trophies Championship. A 3-1 victory over West Kirby U23 secured a third consecutive win for the early pace-setters, courtesy of an Alexander Rhodes brace and a strike from Zach Comer. Tom Moor provided the solitary reply for West Kirby U23.

Concurrently in the Tarvin Precision Vets Championship, Eastham Vets produced an impressive away performance to defeat Crewe Corinthians Vets 5-2. Gareth Lupton claimed the plaudits with a fine hat-trick, while Paul Leay contributed twice to secure the points.

In Vets Division Three, Tarvin Athletic Vets recorded a comprehensive 12-2 victory over Shore Villa Vets. Both Adam Butcher and Ben Reddock registered four goals each, with Lee Dutton, David Taylor, Chris Rhodes, and James Thompson completing the scoring.

Saturday's fixtures began in the Queensferry Sports Premier Division, where league leaders Upton JFC Reserves shared the points with Handbridge FC in an entertaining 3-3 draw. Joshua Robinson, Aaron Rowland, and Halim Senturk found the net for Upton JFC Reserves, while replies from Tom Houlibrook, Sam Robinson, and Ryan Bradley ensured the hosts earned a share of the spoils.

M.U.C United secured a 4-1 win against Whitegate United, spearheaded by another Adam Hagger brace. Karzan Azizi and Murangi also scored for the victors, rendering Shaun Howarth’s effort for Whitegate United a mere consolation. Meanwhile, Elton JFC and Chester Nomads 3rds played out a 2-2 draw. Adam Hall and James King-Magee were on target for Elton JFC, while James Lloyd scored both goals for Nomads.

In the Championship, Poulton Vics dropped their first points of the campaign following a 3-3 draw away at West Kirby United. Evan Perry, Rui Owen, and Alfie Naylor scored for Poulton Vics, with Pascal Nugent, Alex Davies, and Shay Heller replying for the hosts.

Saturday's veterans' fixtures featured a standout performance from Craig Humphries, whose hat-trick guided Davenham Vets to a 3-2 away win at Port Sunlight Vets. The home side's goals came via Gareth Barr and Danny Mckune. Elsewhere, Wirral Masters and Crossway took a point apiece from a 1-1 draw, with Craig Bunnell scoring for the hosts and Ash Doyle replying for the visitors.

Division Two action saw Hoole Wanderers Vets edged out Frodsham Park Vets Reserves with a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Tom Swinburne and James White. Gareth Gerrard scored the only goal for Frodsham.Hoole Rangers Vets also enjoyed success on the road, defeating Great Sutton Vets 4-1. Baz Neale led the scoring with a brace, supported by strikes from Rich Whincup and Dave Hughes.

Finally, in Division Three, Nags Head Vets opened their campaign with a narrow 3-2 victory over Saughall Colts Vets.
