Chester and Wirral Football League - Weekend Round Up

Here are the latest results for the Chester and Wirral Football League..

Mersey Royal Vets successfully defended the Cheshire Vets Cup on Saturday, delivering a commanding performance in a 7-0 victory over Davenham Vets. Shaun Parrington set the tone by finding the net within three minutes, before Mikey Burke doubled the advantage. A clinical display from Chrissy Bowe saw him convert from the spot and then add a stunning 30-yard lob to send Royal into the break with a 4-0 lead. The scoring continued in the second half as Ian Sheridan got on the scoresheet, followed by Bowe completing his hat-trick with another spectacular goal. The tally was rounded off by the returning Dave Rudge, who emerged from the bench to add a brilliant seventh, capping a fantastic achievement for the club.

The mid-week action was dominated by the CWFL Cayzer Shield semi-finals on Monday night. FC Farndon stormed into the final with a ruthless 8-0 thrashing of Great Sutton Reserves, inspired by a dual family performance as Ben Parry and Lee Parry both notched hat-tricks. Dan Wagstaff and Sam Davenport also found the target to complete the rout.

Meeting Farndon in the final will be Chester Nomads 4ths, who navigated a much tighter affair to edge past M.U.C United 2-1. George Cornes and Sam Gregory were the heroes for Nomads, grabbing the vital goals to seal their progression.

Elsewhere on Monday, Handbridge secured their spot in the CWFL Life Members Cup final with a hard working 2-0 win over West Kirby Vets. Rob Owen and Luke Allen provided the finishes to set up a final date against either Higher Bebington Kelma Vets or Mersey Royal Vets, who face off on Wednesday (22nd April).

In the first of the Doug Johnson semi-finals, revenge was on the menu on Wednesday night as Sefton Vets travelled to Capenhurst Vets looking to make amends for a recent league loss. They did so in impressive fashion, securing a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from David Stafford and Jamie Hay. Sefton now await the winners of the Birkenhead Vets versus Hartford Vets clash this Friday.

In Saturday’s league action, CWFL Queensferry Premier Division side Chester Nomads 3rds defeated second-placed Whitegate United 2-0, with Trey Lattie and George Tingey the difference-makers. Meanwhile, in the CWFL Olympic Trophies championship FC Farndon maintained their momentum from Monday’s cup success by seeing off Poulton Vics 3-1. Andy Walker bagged a brace and David Mitchell added a third, while Olly Smith grabbed a consolation for Vics.

The goals continued to flow in the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Three, where Tarvin Vets dismantled Parkfield Vets 6-1. The goals were shared around as Chris Rhodes, Adam Butcher, Sean Taylor, Ian Michael Jones, Brian Holland, and Daryl Taylor all struck; Dave Ritson replied for Parkfield.

In Division Five, Hoole Wanderers made short work of Saughall Vets in an 8-2 goal-fest. James White led the way with a hat-trick, supported by a Joquim Monteiro double and singles from Andy Evans, John Darkwah, and Nodz Noden. Sam Marshall netted twice for Saughall in response. Finally, Great Sutton Vets and St Annes shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw, with Michael Sirett and Mark Newman scoring for Sutton in a closely fought encounter
