The weekend’s action got off to a flying start in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division as the top two sides, Higher Bebington Kelma Reserves and Clarence FC, faced off in a thrilling encounter packed with goals. Kelma had Kal Herbert scoring a hat trick, Tyler Abram adding a brace, and further goals coming from Jack Marshall, Jake Bernard, and Adam Haywood. Clarence's Billy Rainbow produced a remarkable six-minute hat trick and added a fourth later in the match, while Ben Ryan also got on the scoresheet as the game finished 8-5 in Kelmas favour. Elsewhere in the division, Frodsham Park JFC and Sutton Rangers Reserves shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
Saturday’s Championship fixtures continued in similarly dramatic fashion, with M.U.C. United edging out Elton FC 7-6 in a goal-laden contest. Adam Hagger netted a hat trick for United, supported by strikes from Modou Cham, Karzan Azizi, Keanou Ried, and Jarmal Mohamed. Elton’s Adam Hall also notched a hat trick, Terry Watts bagged a brace, and Callum Widowson added one more in a spirited effort.
Chester Nomads fourths picked up a morale-boosting 3-1 win against bottom side Poulton Vics, with Richard Birtwistle scoring twice and Matthew Griffith on target.
In the CWFL Queensferry Premier Division, Handbridge climbed to third after an emphatic 8-1 win over Hoole Rovers. Rob Owen led the way with a hat trick, Matt Bird and Ryan Bradley each scored twice, and Sam Robinson added another.
Cestrian were on target through Nial Peaker and Dominic Loyden, but Chester Nomads Thirds edged the contest 3-2 thanks to goals from George Tingey, Trey Lattie and George Cornes.
In CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Three, Blacon Vets extended their lead at the top with a 4-1 victory over Frodsham Vets. Aden Shannon scored a hat trick and Danny Davies found the net, while Mark Earlam replied for Frodsham.
Upton JFC Vets recorded a 4-1 win against Waverton Vets with goals from Sean Kearns (2), Jim Lehman and Scott Beach. Paul Caputo netted Waverton’s consolation.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Four saw Davenham Vets move into top spot with a 3-1 win away at Nags Head Bunbury Vets. Kev Douglas scored twice and Jay Cartlidge added another for the visitors.
Hoole Vets were beaten 4-2 by Crossway Vets, despite goals from Ash English and Rich Whincup. Crossway’s scorers were Wes Roberts, Phil Radcliffe, Phil Hall, and Kevin Leech.
West Kirby Vets edged Dee Rangers Vets 3-2 in a tightly contested match. Greg Lindop, Tom Raven, and Rich Irvin were on target for West Kirby, with Ben Stern and Charles Coates replying for Dee.
In CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Five, both St Annes Vets and Port Sunlight Vets took full advantage of leaders Cheshire Vikings Vets being without a fixture. St Annes edged Saughall Vets 2-1 with goals from Tim Brabdearth and Les Jones, while Ashley Smith scored for Saughall.
Port Sunlight Vets enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 win over Great Sutton Vets, with goals from Andy Crilly, Dave Silltie, Matty Nayland, and Steve Quarry. Tarporley Vets also picked up a 2-0 win against Frodsham Vets, thanks to goals from Darren Lloyd and Stephen Roberts.
