Here are the weekend results for the Chester and Wirral Football League...
CWFL Doug Johnson & Life Members Cup
On Friday night in the CWFL Doug Johnson semi-final, Higher Bebington Kelma Vets secured their place in the final with a hard-earned victory against Queens Park Vets. Jason Ashworth was a two-goal hero for Kelma as his goals came either side of a Mike Mcgree goal for Queens.
The first of three big games between Mersey Royal Vets and Hooton Vets kicked off on Friday night in the Life Members cup quarter final and despite Hooton enjoying plenty of possession it was Mersey Royal who showed their ruthlessness in front of goal as they ran out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Danny Edwards, Lee Gibson, and Andy Robinson.
CWFL Cayzer Shield semi-finals
Despite taking an early lead thanks to an Aiden Middleton goal Neston Nomads Reserves were unable to take advantage as Cestrian Alex struck back to end the half 2-1 ahead thanks to goals from Josh Camy and Will Kitchen. In the second half a well worked corner seen Kitchen net his second as Cestrian extended their lead and despite Neston grabbing a late second to make it a nervous ending, Cestrian managed to hold on and secure their place in the final of the Cayzer Shield.
In the other semi-final Waggon & Horses Reserves put in a superb performance in defeating Cheshire Vikings 4-1. Two Trey Lattie strikes, an Ellis Cooke goal and a superb fourth from Brandon Garland done the damage to see Waggon into the final.
In CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division:
Moreton’s good form continued as they defeated Kelsall 5-3 thanks to doubles from both Ashton Jameson and Gabe Bratu plus a single from Braden Greenslade. Kelsall replied with efforts from Joe Davis, Dom Coates, and Mikey Taylor.
Hoole Rangers and Sutton Rangers shared a point each with the game ending 2-2. Ben Hughes and Callum Jones netted for Hoole whilst Nathen Stephenson bagged both of Sutton’s goals.
CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship
The only game in the Championship went Upton JFC’s way with an emphatic 5-1 win against Hoole Rovers. Joe Muir helped himself to a hat-trick and Cae McGovern netted a brace.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2
Upton Youth Vets are the new leaders of Division 2 as they seen off rivals Ellesmere Port Red Lions thanks to a brilliant hat-trick from Daniel Stevenson. Anyone of Upton Youth Vets, Neston Nomads Vets and Red Lions Vets are now in the hunt for the title in what will be an exciting finish.
At the other end of the table West Kirby United Vets enjoyed a high scoring victory against Ellesmere Port Town running out 6-4 winners thanks to doubles from Phil Birss and Mike Andrews and singles from Paul Robinson and Eliot Howley.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3 & 4 and 5
Only one game in Division 3 seen Chester Nomads Vets defeat FC Farndon by the odd goal in five. A brace from Simon Andrews and a single from Hamish McConachie gave Nomads the points. Whilst in Division 4 Despite a treble from Will Beales Frodsham Vets came unstuck against FC Vaults Vets who had Kieth Roberts and Mark Woodworth both bagging doubles.
In Division 5 Frodsham Vets Reserves defeated Rake & Pikel Vets by the odd goal in seven thanks to doubles for both Kevin Valentine and Rob Davies. Rake & Pikel had Chris Sutter on target with a brace and Jamie McHugh with a single.
