CheshireWorks4U Goes On Working For Jobs

Macclesfield’s MP, David Rutley, has praised the most recent CheshireWorks4U virtual jobs fair, which took place on Wednesday 27th January.

With over 11,500 views and 35 employers advertising 2,000 vacancies, the event highlighted how successful this new, innovative approach to supporting job seekers has become. 

At the start of the virtual jobs fair, the local MP set out his strong support for these important events in his opening remarks. David explained how CheshireWorks4U has provided a virtual platform to showcase current employment opportunities and the support that is available for job seekers across the county. The jobs fairs have a proven track record in helping participants looking to enter the job market for the first time, wanting career progression or seeking for a change of direction get the support they need in these challenging times.

Coronavirus has had a serious impact on the labour market across the country and social distancing has meant that new, creative approaches have had to be developed to more fully support job seekers. The Cheshire Jobcentre Plus team has worked hard, in partnership with the Jobs LIVE channel, to establish and expand the CheshireWorks4U jobs fairs at pace over recent months.

While there are economic challenges, the most recent jobs fair put the spotlight on employment opportunities in sectors such as health and social care, logistics and transport, construction and online commerce. Support partners were also on hand to provide advice and support for those who are struggling with redundancy and employability support, so that they had the chance to ask for assistance from local experts. Participants were also able to ask questions and interact with employers and support organisations via the live chat.
