Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer is calling for applications to join the Cheshire Youth Commission, which provides young people with the opportunity to have their say about policing and crime in their area.
Members of the Youth Commission inform, support and challenge the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Cheshire Constabulary. New members must be aged between 14-25 years old and live in the Cheshire policing area.
The Youth Commission is looking to recruit good team players who can commit to the project and the activities involved. Throughout the year, the Youth Commission will focus on their chosen priority topics, gather the views of other young people, plan events, report their findings back to the Police and Crime Commissioner and host the Youth Commission Conference in November 2024.
Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer, said:
“Being part of the Youth Commission is an experience like no other, and gives young people an opportunity to build on their skills, develop new talents and make friends for life.
“The work the Youth Commission does throughout the year is invaluable to my role, and each member makes a real difference to the policing of Cheshire.”
The Cheshire Youth Commission is committed to ensuring the group is made up of diverse young people from different backgrounds and life experiences, including those who have direct experience of the police and criminal justice system.
Applications must be received by Friday 19 January 2024.
