Weaver Vale MP Mike Amesbury has called for an inquiry into Northern Rail, following their recent failure on timetable changes and major delays across the region.
Weaver Vale MP Mike Amesbury had joined the growing calls for an inquiry into Northern Rail.
The Labour politician has echoed the comments of Manchester Metro Mayor Andy Burnham, who has demanded that the rail franchise holder to be called to account for failing to deliver on its promises.
Northern Rail had pledged two trains per hour during some peak times in mid Cheshire, however Amesbury says that falls short of their original promise made when three years, of two trains per hour, round the clock.
According to Mr Amesbury, the two trains per hour plan has been delayed twice by the company, and could now be put back until December 2018.
Northern Rail have stated that the reason for the delay is due to the installation of electric services at Bolton station has being put delayed, and that they are aiming to get “services back to an acceptable level” as soon as possible.
These criticisms are another blow for the service, after they received a barrage of complaints over the weekend after implementing a new timetable across the North.
Due to delays and train cancellations, Northern Rail suspended the new schedule, less than 24 hours after it was put in place.
