Cheshire Constabulary supports successful Creamfields operation

The policing operation to support Creamfields Music Festival has come to a successful conclusion, with a total of 38 arrests made.

Cheshire Constabulary once again worked alongside event organisers for this years event in Daresbury.

The event attracted capacity crowds of 80,000 people, with around 55,000 camping on site across the four-day festival

Creamfields took place between Thursday 27th and Monday 31st August and involved a significant operation both over the Bank Holiday weekend itself, and during the extensive planning phase for the event.

Officers supported event and security staff and provided a visible policing presence to make the event as safe as possible, while minimising the impact on local residents.

A total of 122 incidents were reported for a variety of offences over the course of the event, the most common being drug-related. A total of £246,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized throughout the operation.

Supt Andy Blizard, Creamfields Silver Commander, said:

“The Creamfields policing operation brought together teams from across the organisation, who worked alongside partner agencies, event staff and Cream Global to deliver a safe event for those who attended.

“The vast majority of festival-goers were cooperative, and we also worked alongside the event organisers to minimise the impact to the wider community, with local residents praising the engagement and support provided by our neighbourhood policing teams.

“As with previous years, we targeted those who were intent on supplying illegal substances at the festival - before and during the event. Officers conducted pre-event site searches, the event utilised surrender bins, and there were also extensive search processes carried by security personnel at entrances to the site.

“We also supported Creamfields with their plans to deter trespassing, and for the first time we used retrospective facial recognition to help identify outstanding suspects.

“The policing operation also extends beyond the festival coming to an end, All of those who were arrested at the festival and are being investigated will now have to face the consequences and pay the price for their actions.”
