Cheshire Community Action leads community growing and gardening feasibility study

Cheshire Community Action has launched a feasibility study for Cheshire West and Chester Council to look at current community growing and gardening provision.

The study will look at how a greater range of community growing and gardening projects could be developed within the borough to enable more people to get involved and to improve access to locally grown food.

CCA would like to hear from people who are already involved in a community growing or gardening project, as well as those who have ideas for a project in their area or suggestions about available land in local villages or parishes that could be used for community growing or gardening.

Kevin Janes, Social Enterprise Manager at CCA, said:  

“Community gardening and growing can be great ways to make the most of disused plots and build pride in public spaces. As well as making communities cleaner and greener, gardening projects can boost local biodiversity and play a valuable role in reducing social isolation and bringing people from different walks of life together.

“Our goal is to gather as much information as we can to help develop plans to bring the benefits of community gardening to more people.”
