Changes are being made to car parking charges at Council-run car parks in Cheshire West and Chester.
In order to support shoppers and businesses during the busy festive period, for those who wish to stay in Chester longer the Council will be reducing car parking charges at Chester New Market car park from 14 December for stays of over four hours.
To support residents and businesses during the Christmas period, the Council will also be phasing the implementation of an increase in car parking charges at car parks in the borough, where charges apply, with the updated charges not coming into effect until 17 January 2024.
The Council has made significant investment in parking facilities in recent years, including the award-winning New Market Parking. The Council has also made significant investments in new payment machines and payment options.
Parking charges in the borough have not been increased in line with inflation for many years, and in some cases for over 10 years.
Blue badge holders will still be able to park for free for up to four hours and borough residents can register for a special micro-chip blue badge for use in some large ANPR controlled car parks.
